Washington Township, NJ (April 15, 2023) – A major motor vehicle accident was reported in Washington Township on Friday that claimed one person’s life.
Just after 5:00 p.m. on April 14, the New Jersey State Police responded to the scene of an automobile accident on Garden State Parkway.
Reports show that a collision took place on the southbound side of the Parkway near mile marker 166.8. The crash caused delays near the Pasternak Valley toll Plaza in Washington County, prompting the police and firefighters to shut down multiple lanes in the area as they worked to clear the scene.
A medical helicopter was summoned to the scene of the crash to transport one person who suffered severe injuries after being ejected from one of the involved vehicles as it rolled over. The victim was in cardiac arrest at the time they were located at the scene. However, the victim ended up being transported to Hackensack University Medical Center by an ALS unit with the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. The victim passed away from their injuries after arriving.
At this time, the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the crash.
Our condolences are with the family of the victim who lost their life in this accident.
