Fatal Car Accidents in New Jersey

Fatal accidents take the lives of hundreds of people annually in New Jersey. Many of these crashes take place due to motorists who are reckless or careless while operating their vehicles. Some of the most common causes of fatal accidents that occur in our state include:

  • Running red lights: When motorists pass through red lights at intersections, they increase the likelihood of colliding with other vehicles that do have the right-of-way to go. Regrettably, these drivers often cause T-bone crashes that end in vehicles rolling over.
  • Speeding motorists: When motorists travel above the posted speed limit, they increase the risks of losing control and striking other vehicles or pedestrians nearby. Unfortunately, speeding can also increase the severity of all injuries suffered during collisions, which increases the likelihood of fatalities.
  • Distractions: Anything that takes the attention of a driver off the road ahead can have serious consequences. Every day, innocent people lose their lives in crashes as a result of drivers who are texting on the phone or engaging in other reckless actions.
  • Failure to yield: Drivers who fail to yield are another leading cause of accidents across our state. It is important that drivers are mindful of others when exiting driveways, entering roadways, or even switching lanes.

When drivers choose to act negligently while behind the wheel, they can cause serious harm to other people sharing the road. If you have lost a loved one in a fatal accident due to the negligence of another driver, you should reach out to a wrongful death lawyer in Trenton right away. You may be able to pursue a claim for compensation, so you have the money that you need to cover your losses and damages moving forward.
