Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in New Jersey

Countless pedestrians lose their lives and motor vehicle accidents in New Jersey every year. In many instances, pedestrian crashes are caused by driver negligence. We see many people lose their lives in crashes as a result of drivers who are speeding. Traveling above this posted speed limit can make it difficult for drivers to stop in time to avoid a collision.

Pedestrian accidents, in particular, are often caused by drivers who fail to yield the right of way. When pedestrians have the right of way to cross the roadways at designated crossing areas and vehicles fail to stop, they can be held accountable for striking pedestrians.

In other instances, we see drivers who are distracted while operating the vehicles. Using a cell phone, eating, or engaging in another distracting activity while operating a vehicle can make it incredibly challenging for drivers to stop in time to avoid a collision.
