National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)

An independent federal agency created to enforce the National Labor Relations Act which guarantees the right of private employees to organize and to bargain collectively with their employers, and to engage in other protected concerted activity with or without a union, or to refrain from all such activity. This right does not apply to public employees.

Neglect

Absence of care or attention.

Negligence

Conduct that falls short of what a reasonable person would do to protect another individual from foreseeable risks of harm.

Negligence Suit

A Lawsuit seeking Damages for injury caused by another person's Negligence.

No Limitation on Lawsuit Option

Also known as no threshold. A provision in an automobile insurance policy allowing an injured person to sue for non-economic loss regardless of the type of injury sustained.

Non-Binding Agreement

An agreement between two or more persons the terms of which are not enforceable in court.

Notice

Information, advice or written warning, formal or informal, intended to apprise a person of some proceeding in which his or her interests are involved, or informing him or her of some fact which it is his or her right to know and the duty of the notifying party to communicate.
